Once immensely popular, Overwatch saw its servers shut down in October 2022 with the arrival of Overwatch II. The sequel, after its official release, not only replaced the previous 6v6 gameplay with a typical 5v5 mode, but also promised to introduce a PvE mode, which was highly anticipated by both veteran and new players.
However, after several months of waiting, producer Jared Neuss announced the cancellation of the PvE mode's development, stating that the overall progress did not meet expectations. Undoubtedly, this news faced considerable criticism from players, particularly within the Reddit community.
Recently, Redditor yosukemybeloved shared an interesting story. He said that he would usually play Overwatch II on his PlayStation 4. However, a few days ago, he accidentally deleted the game, causing the update content to disappear along with it. He then inserted the original Overwatch disc and were greeted with the nostalgic opening animation, but could only watch the animation without actually being able to play it.
The story sparked discussions among other users in the community, with many expressing sentiments like "the good old days," and some fans even jokingly apologized to Winston for frequently skipping his opening animation.
