The Ukrainian government requests for ban on the recently released game Atomic Heart, developed by Russian studio Mundfish, in the Ukrainian territory.
According to the Ukrainian media, the local Digital Ministry will formally request for a complete ban on the sales of digital versions of the game within the Ukrainian border.
Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov stated that: "We also call to limit the distribution of this game in other countries due to its toxicity, the potential collection of user data information and the possibility of their transfer to third parties in Russia, as well as the potential use of money raised from game purchases to wage war against Ukraine."
Besides, he also claimed that development of the game was funded by sanctioned Russian enterprises and banks that are important to the Russian government, thus urging the public to boycott the game. Additionally, he emphasized that the developers did not publicly condemn the Putin regime and the war that Russian has unleashed upon Ukraine.
Despite the strong condemnation of the game and its developers, no concrete evidence seemed to have been put on the table for the claims that were made.
Guess it wouldn't be long before we find out whether the game will be banned in the territory of Ukraine.
Atomic Heart is set in an alternative world where Polymer, an super-substance able to power future technologies, is invented in the USSR. The economical growth brought by the breakthrough has allowed the country to quickly recover from World War 2 and become a leading global power. Players will assume the role of KGB agent Sergey Nechaev, who was sent on a mission to investigate the mystery behind the rampage of the robots in Facility No. 3826.
