Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) has broken its own record of 1.32 million concurrent users last month with a new peak of 1,420,183 million users last weekend. The game's official Twitter tweeted jokingly to express gratitude towards its followers.
The game was launched 11 years ago, and still remains one of the games with the most active users, according to Steamdb.
Prior to the record set last month, the game's peak users record was said to have reached 1.30 million during the pandemic that kept all of us indoors three years ago, making the feat of breaking the record for two consecutive months in 2023 all the more impressive.
The lastest record follows the recent leak of the possible release of Counter Strike 2. There has been no official announcement as of yet, but leakers are optimistic that either an all-new sequel to the game or a CS:GO port to the Source 2 engine will be announced in near future.
