Producer Youzou Sakagami of the Idolmaster series announced today on the official Idolmaster website that he will retire at the end of March, ending his 18-year relationship with the Idolmaster series. In the announcement, he mentioned that the Idolmaster series will continue even without him, and Hatano, who is in charge of the game's animation and strategic business, stated in another announcement that there will be no position of general producer in the future, so no one will succeed Sakagami.
Sakagami stated that he had wanted to bring the series to a close when Idolmaster celebrated its 15th anniversary, but unfortunately, the pandemic happened, which caused changes and delays to the plans that had already been made. It was only after things gradually stabilized that he decided to retire. He also expressed his gratitude to the fans who have supported the Idolmaster series all these years.
