根据日本 NHK 报导指出，田中秀和在今年 8 月 20 日夜晚 10 点半左右，于车站附近的单车停车场企图猥亵一名归家途中的少女，一边说着淫穢語言，一边拉着少女的手，该少女挣脱后到附近的派出所报警，随后警方调阅了停车场附近的闭路电视，拍到田中秀和跟踪少女的画面，因此警方逮捕了田中秀和并询问。
