Nothing’s second generation smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2), has launched officially in Malaysia. Starting today, the phone could be purchased at the CROSSOVER store in MidValley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur, and will be subsequently available for purchase from July 22 at the brand's official online stores on Shopee and Lazada, as well as through authorized retailers such as Yes5G, DirectD, TMT, Urban Republic, Tac Mobile, and Vivid Concepts. In Malaysia, the Nothing Phone (2) is priced at MYR 2,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant and RM 3,499 for the 12GB + 512GB variant, with color options include White and Dark Grey.
Larger than Phone (1), the latest Nothing Phone (2) boasts dimensions of 162.1mm × 76.4mm × 8.6mm, featuring a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2412 × 1080 pixels and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and has a splash, water, and dust resistance rating of IP54.
Equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, the device is powered by a 4700mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging, allowing the phone to be fully charged in approximately 55 minutes, as well as support for 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging.
The camera experience this time also received a notable upgrade. At the rear, it packs a Sony IMX890 50MP main sensor along with a Samsung JN1 50MP ultra-wide sensor, both featuring Motion Capture 2.0 and 2X Super-Res Zoom. Video recording at 4K 60FPS is now possible using the main rear camera, which now includes an Action Mode for capturing footage while on the move. For the front camera, the device is equipped with a Sony IMX615 32MP sensor that supports 1080P 60FPS video recording.
At the back of the device, you’ll find its signature Glyph interface, this time upgraded with more dynamic fucntions such as third-party app integration (e.g. progress tracker for food delivery), the Essential Glyph Notifications that allows light notifications for selected contacts, as well as the Glyph Composer that lets you create and share your own custom-made ringtones and lighting effects, among other everyday functions such as countdown timer and battery indicator. All these are made possible via the minimalistic Nothing OS 2.0 that emphasize on functional customization.
With a focus on sustainability, the Nothing Phone (2) aims to be one of the most environmentally friendly smartphones available. It is constructed using recycled materials, including a 100% recycled aluminium mid-frame, 100% recycled tin on its 9 circuit boards, and 100% recycled copper foil on the main circuit, and more. Despite its enhanced performance, the phone has managed to reduce its carbon footprint to 53.46kg, which is 8.6% less than its predecessor.
