《Horizon Call of Mountain》故事描述过去曾是「Shadow Carja」战士的「Ryas」，为了调查「Sundom」所带来的威胁而展开冒险，并在这趟旅程中救赎自己的心灵。在本作中玩家可以使用弓箭对抗机械兽，而且还可以进行攀爬和闪避，熟悉这些动作可以让玩家在游戏中生存的机率更高。
