金正宙毕业于首尔大学资讯系，在他考上韩国科学技术院博士班的时候决定退学，并与大学的同学「宋在京」创立了 NEXON 游戏开发公司，后来创造出了《Maple Story》、《跑跑卡丁车》、《DNF》等大家相当耳熟的作品而闻名。在韩国被称为游戏界三强之一。
