Square Enix's Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series, which was released on PC and mobile platforms last year, will be released worldwide on April 20 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. In addition, the console version will add a variety of features, including BGM switching, turning off random encounters, and adjustment of EXP gain, aiming to provide players with a gameplay experience that is closer to the original version while offering diverse ways to play.
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series includes 2D remasters of the six games from Final Fantasy to Final Fantasy VI. Each game is given a new life with beautifully distinct 2D graphics and improved sound quality. More features of the remastered versions are as follows:
- 2D graphics created with new expressive visuals. Shibuya Kazuko, who created the pixelated characters in the FF series, participated as a key member in the overall remastering process.
- Music is supervised by FF series composer Nobuo Uematsu, completely rearranged based on the original music.
- Added support for various interfaces such as controllers and touch screens, optimized operability on each different platform.
- New elements not present in the original games have been added, such as the bestiary, music player, illustration gallery, auto-battle function, and the option to save anytime, anywhere.
