《Scarlet Nexus》设定在近未来世界，透过结合大脑和科学的技术革新，人类建立了新的文明。同时，异形般的存在－「怪异」也追求着发达的人脑，长久以来不断威胁着人们的生活。为了对抗这群无法被普通兵器伤害的怪异，人类集结了能够发挥特殊超能力的人选，组成「怪异讨伐军」来保护人们的生活。
