在不久前，《任天堂明星大乱斗特別版》终于宣布推出最后一位斗士索拉，为该作品的更新拉下帷幕。而在近日本作的制作人樱井政博在接受外媒采访，提及关于系列的未来打算，他表示暂时还未考虑任何续作的计划，但不代表未来不会有。
除此之外，他透露自己与任天堂官方曾有试图寻找其他人来主要负责系列新作开发，但结果并不理想，而且暂时也还没有探索出可以让自己（樱井政博）不参与的情况下带来新作的方法。因此系列粉丝们，或许近年内都不会看到相关新作，但可以把期待推迟一点，还是有机会看到新作的。
