Entertainment Software Association 正式宣布今年的 E3 2022 发布会依旧采用线上直播进行，线下展会则会取消，原因是因为欧美地区变种病毒疫情扩散，为了工作人员的健康与安全着想，所以才会做此决定。
官方在面对海外媒体的采访中提到，由于新冠状病毒依旧潜伏在世界各地中并危害人类的健康，开放线下展会对于参加的粉丝与工作人员来说无疑是一种健康安全上的威胁，即使是采用线上直播发布会也不影响主办单位对 E3 的期待，至于 E3 发布会的内容将会在未来公布详情。
