The Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3 and once hailed as the world's largest gaming exhibition, is finally set to return as an offline event in June 2023. However, this may be the most dismal E3 ever as not only Sony (PlayStation), but it also has been rumored that Microsoft (Xbox) and Nintendo will not participate in the event.
Nintendo has officially confirmed the news, stating that: "We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of the ESA and E3."
As for Microsoft, according to an interview with Phil Spencer, they have plans to prepare for a press conference in June, but that doesn't mean setting up a booth at E3.
Although the "Big 3" will be absent from E3, other game companies will still participate, such as Ubisoft, who have plans to make major announcements at the event. In addition, it is believed that in June, the Big 3 will each hold their own press conferences to unveil new games for the second half of the year.
