For a long time, game pricing on the Steam store has varied from country to country and region to region. Prices in countries like Argentina and Turkey have often been lower than in other countries, leading many players to "migrate" to these regions to purchase games at lower prices.
However, just recently, Valve officially announced that starting from November 20, 2023, game pricing in the Argentina and Turkey region stores will be settled in US dollars, and players' wallet balances will be converted to US dollars based on the exchange rate on that date.
According to the official statement, they will achieve this by introducing two new pricing regions: Latin America - US Dollars (including Argentina) and Middle East & North Africa - US Dollars (including Turkey). As a result, pricing in some countries/regions may increase or decrease.
Valve also explained that the decision to make these changes is primarily due to currency fluctuations in Argentina and Turkey, which have made it challenging for game developers to select appropriate prices and keep them up-to-date. Therefore, pricing games in US dollars will help provide greater stability and consistency for players and partners and enable more payment options for Steam users in these countries/regions.
