由微软发行的《Age of Empires》系列续作《Age of Empires IV》近日在直播活动上宣布预定将在 2021 年秋季发售，登陆 Window 10 / PC Steam 平台，支援中文字幕以及语音。以此同时，官方也首次公开游戏实机演示影片，向玩家展示数个国家文明、战役等等画面。
《Age of Empires IV》是一款著名的即时战略游戏，此次的续作依然与历代作品相同，以中世纪时代作为背景舞台，在《Age of Empires IV》中最初将会有八个文明，分别包括了中国、英国、蒙古、德里苏丹以及其他未公布的文明，每个文明也都兼具各自的特色能力以及优势。至于游戏基础玩法方面没有太大变化，玩家会率领文明经历各个历史时代，而在这个过程中会开始收集资源、建筑、军事以及展开文明之战等等，非常考验玩家的策略能力。除此之外，直播活动中开发团队表示，新作的战役模式设计将会更加注重朝代，玩家可以透过这个模式了解更多历史故事的相关内容，并且让更多玩家对历史产生兴趣。
