In a recent announcement, Jim Ryan, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, revealed that the company has sold over 40 million PlayStation consoles since its launch in November 2020.
Ryan acknowledged the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19 and praised the hard work of their teams and partners in delivering the PS5 on time. He also mentioned the difficulties faced with supply chains due to the pandemic, which took some time to normalize, affecting the availability of PS5 consoles.
Expressing gratitude to the gaming community, Ryan said, "For more months than I care to remember, we kept thanking our community for their patience while working through these issues. But now PS5 supply is well-stocked, and we are seeing that pent-up demand finally being met." He further extended his thanks to the gaming community, acknowledging that without their support, this accomplishment would have been an impossible task.
As part of the announcement, the Top 40 PS5 Games as voted by the PlayStation community was also revealed:
