The mobile game Destiny Child, created by renowned Korean illustrator and game designer Kim Hyung Tae from SHIFT UP, announced today that all of its servers (Global, Japanese and Korean) will shut down on September 21, 2023. The in-game item sales will be halted on July 20, and the official communities will be closed on October 31.
The official statement mentioned that the team has been striving to provide players with excellent game content but, after careful consideration, they have decided to cease operations. They also expressed their gratitude for the fans' support over the past six years.
Destiny Child was released in Korea in 2016, followed by the launch of its Japanese version in 2017 and the global version in 2018. The game is designed to be played vertically on smartphones, with characters presented in Live2D animation during battles. The story revolves around the player, who takes on the role of the weakest candidate for the Archfiend, gathering various companions to compete for the throne of the Archfiend against numerous candidates.
Furthermore, considering the difficulty of providing satisfactory services to players in the future, the developers have decided to release the Destiny Child: Memorial app on August 17, which allows players to continue enjoying the game's content even after the game's operation comes to an end.
Additionally, they will also host an online commemorative concert for the game, which will be live-streamed on various platforms. Further details about this concert will be announced in subsequent updates.
