According to a statement released via IGN, as part of Sony's regular review process, PlayStation Studios has decided to close PixelOpus studio on June 2, in order to ensure that its portfolio and studio projects align with the organization's short and long-term strategic objectives. Developer PixelOpus also confirmed the closure in a tweet, stating "our PixelOpus adventure has come to an end".
PixelOpus, which was established in 2014, has released two games to date: 2014's rhythm game Entwined and 2019's Concrete Genie. It's worth noting that back in June 2021, the developer announced an untitled PS5 project in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation, but with the closure of its studio, it is unclear whether the project has been canceled or transferred to another studio.
