A few years ago, Archangel Studios raised $31,199 on crowdfunding site for a souls-like ARPG called Bleak Faith: Forsaken. After several years, the game was finally released recently, but just a few days later, players questioned whether the game plagiarized Elden Ring.
Looking at the comparison videos made by players online, it seems that Bleak Faith: Forsaken almost completely mirrors the attack animations of the characters and bosses from Elden Ring, with only slight modifications. It is difficult to dispel the suspicion of plagiarism, as the animations are almost identical, with animation speed being the only noticeable difference. Some examples of the comparisons are shown below:
In the wake of the controversy, one of the developers of Bleak Faith: Forsaken stated that all non-internally created animations come from the Epic Marketplace and have been there for many years. If there are any issues or concerns, parties can contact Epic for resolution. If there are any concerns coming from Epic, they are willing to remake the animations, but they have not received any notice from Epic yet. The controversial game has received thousands of reviews on Steam as of now, with 64% of them being positive.
