During this year's CES 2023, Sony unveiled the Project Leonardo, an accessibility-focused game controller for PS5 designed specifically for players with disabilities. Today, on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the official announcement has confirmed the controller's official name: the Access Controller for PS5 Console. However, the release date is yet to be determined as it is still in the development phase.
The Access Controller is designed to make gaming more accessible for players with disabilities. Its overall design allows for customizable components, such as analog stick caps and buttons of different shapes and sizes, which can be adjusted according to individual needs or preferences. In addition to the hardware features, the PS5 console offers a range of settings options, including button mapping and control profiles, allowing for easy configuration changes. Moreover, the Access Controller can even be used in conjunction with another accessibility controller or DualSense controller to meet specific gaming requirements, while also supporting third-party accessories.
