Stephen Wilhite 曾在 CompuServe 网络服务公司工作长达十年时间，期间他所领导的领队在 1985 年开发出了 GIF 图像格式。托他的福，GIF 现今在网络世界或迷因界都是不可缺少的一笔，而 Stephen Wilhite 的家人也为他建立了讣告纪念网页，网民们都可以到此留下对 Stephen Wilhite 的感谢与悼念。
