Lately, the Malaysian professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports team, Team Lunatix, has found itself embroiled in a series of controversies.
A few days ago, the team made an official announcement on their Facebook page, revealing that three of their recently recruited players from Myanmar – Kid, Z1PPY, and DJ – had departed from the team and return to their home country. The post also disclosed that two out of these three players were still under contractual obligations to the team, and they had received compensation as stipulated. Today, the MPL MY committee has issued a subsequent statement addressing the situation.
According to the official announcement from the MPL MY committee, it appears that there is shared responsibility among all parties involved: the team and the players themselves (excluding DJ). As a result, official warnings have been issued to the responsible parties. Also, given that both Kid and Z1PPY are still contractually bound to Team Lunatix and cannot participate in any official MLBB esports events with another team, it means that they are required to return to Malaysia for the start of the upcoming season of MPL MY.
In the end, even though the decision has been made to have the two players participate for Team Lunatix, there remains a concern that this could lead to additional problems in the future. Nevertheless, we are hopeful that the situation will calm down after this and are eagerly anticipating an outstanding season of MPL competition.
