根据官方介绍所述，本作故事将从《God of War (2018)》事件发生的几年后开始，讲述着芬布尔之冬的寒风已经袭来，使得奎爷和儿子阿特柔斯在北欧荒野中的生存变得比之前还要更具挑战性。虽然在前作父子之间建立了巨大的信任和理解，但他们的互动依然存在很多复杂的事情。接下来，玩家将继续扮演奎爷和儿子探索九界，同时面对两个主要敌人雷神以及芙蕾雅的追杀，而且还有着更多艰难挑战和真相等着大家揭晓！
