According to an interview with Bryan Intihar, the creative director at Insomniac Games, conducted by Famitsu, it has been revealed that the map size of the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be approximately twice as large as its predecessor (Thanks Gematsu for the translation).
“We’ve added Queens and Brooklyn this time, so roughly speaking the map size is about two times larger than the previous titles," said Intihar.
"Since these two areas are somewhat smaller and residential, I think you’ll find them different from Manhattan. We’ve prepared some unexpected situations we haven’t done before, like a battle on the river between two of the cities, so I hope you’ll look forward to them," he stated.
In addition to that, game director Ryan Smith also confirmed that players could freely switch between controlling Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 while exploring the open world. However, in certain situations during story missions, players will be required to play as specific characters designated for those particular scenarios.
Smith said that: “There are things that are exclusive to a specific character depending on the content, but we’re also preparing content that allows you to play as whichever character you like.”
“While they’re both Spider-Man and have some things in common, Miles is speedier than Peter, and they each have their own quirks, so we hope you can choose your favorite character,” he added.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release in fall 2023 and will be available on Playstation 5. More details and information about the game is expected to be announced in the near future.
