In recent years, the gaming industry has seen a continuous trend of studios being acquired, such as Microsoft's recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In an interview with Bloomberg, Haruhito Tsujimoto, the Chief Operating Officer of CAPCOM, was asked about their stance on mergers and acquisitions.
Tsujimoto explained that there was a period when their company was under consideration for mergers and acquisitions. However, he stressed their preference for organic growth over acquiring external firms. They prioritize the training and development of their internal human resources as a key strategy for achieving growth. While they acknowledge the potential for collaboration with external partners, they have no intentions of pursuing acquisitions.
When asked about how they would respond if Microsoft were to approach CAPCOM with an acquisition offer, Tsujimoto responded firmly, "I would gracefully decline the offer, because I believe it would be better if we were equal partners."
