Final Fantasy XVI gameplay demo and screenshots sneak peek!

Final Fantasy XVI gameplay demo and screenshots sneak peek!

Recently, several foreign media have had the opportunity to try out the demo of Final Fantasy XVI, the latest installment in the Final Fantasy series produced by Square Enix and led by Naoki Yoshida. They have released some gameplay footage of the battle system and screenshots from the game, as well as sharing some information about the game that was gathered during interviews.

We have compiled some information from the interviews of Final Fantasy XVI conducted by multiple foreign media:

  • The game is not likely to be delayed (unless Square Enix is hit by a meteor).
  • The dark style of the game was not initially intended. The team wanted to present a gothic and medieval European style. However, since most of the team members prefer fantasy stories with a dark tone, they decided to go with what they were good at and enjoyed.
  • The game will make use of the unique features of the DualSense controller to provide players with an unforgettable rollercoaster-like experience.
  • The entire game experience, including battles, story, and cutscenes, will be seamlessly connected.
  • A famous singer will be hired to perform the theme song and soundtrack, but negotiations are still ongoing, thus no details could be revealed yet.
  • The game's combat director, Ryota Suzuki, who worked on Devil May Cry 5, joined the development team and has since reshaped the movements of the protagonist, Clive. It is not an exaggeration to say that Suzuki single-handedly created this character.
  • Players who are not good at action games can still enjoy Final Fantasy XVI. The team has put a lot of effort into combat assistance to ensure that everyone can experience the game's fun.
  • There will be a lot of QTE events in the game, but they will not interrupt the experience or cause a sense of discontinuity. Additionally, QTE is an essential part of the game, and the team hopes to tell the story through combat.
  • There will still be various branching contents in the game, such as collecting various items and fragmental information. However, since the game is set in a brutal and unforgiving world, the protagonist does not have much free time, so there will be no activitivies like "fishing".
  • The story and atmosphere will be different from previous works. The plot seems tragic and heavy, and there will indeed be tragic events, but the team hopes that players will still feel that the future is worth looking forward to after completing the game.
