According to the announcement released by CyberAgent today, the company has been sued by Konami Digital Entertainment, claiming that Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, a game created by Cygames (CyberAgent's subsidiary), has infringed Konami's patent rights. Konami is seeking compensation of over 4 billion yen in damages and the suspension of the game.
According to CyberAgent, there was disagreement regarding the patent agreement between Cygames and Konami on the development of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, and Cygames' opinion was not accepted by Konami, leading to the current situation.
Cygames states that the game did not infringe on Konamit's patent, and they intend to prove their point through this lawsuit. They also express sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to the players due to this situation. Cygames assures that any future developments or updates will be publicly disclosed and they hope that players will continue to support Umamusume: Pretty Derby in the future.
