近些年来，索尼 SIE 不再聚焦于游戏展上发表新情报，则是逐渐转为 State of Play 的形式，最近官方宣布旗下 Playstation 不参加于 8 月 24 日至 28 日举办的 Gamescom 2022 科隆游戏展。但实际上，本次缺席的不仅只有 Playstation 而已，不久前 Take-Two Interactive、Nintendo、Activision Blizzard 等厂商也都确定不会参与。
Gamescom 2022 的主办单位声称将会有 250 多家公司参加今年的活动，然而暂时有公开确认参与的貌似只有 Bandai Namco、THQ Nordic、Koch Media 以及其他少数厂商。
