早在本月初时，CD Projekt Red 就一口气透露了多款计划中的项目，而在今日正好就是 2007 年 10 月 26 日推出的初代《The Witcher》第 15 周年，因此官方正式宣布这款作品将迎来完全重制，并且采用 Unreal Engine 5 研发制作，同时这也是此前公布的 Project Canis Majoris 其中一部作品，目前还处于早期阶段。
此外，根据 CDPR 透露，本次的重制版将由名为 Fool's Theory 的工作室负责，这是一家专注制作 RPG 游戏的公司，而且聘请了多位曾经参与过《Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings》 &《The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt》的资深开发人员，至于 CDPR 则会负责创意监督工作。
