At last year's TGA2023, Electronic Arts & Respawn Entertainment teased an upcoming in-game collaboration between their battle royale shooter Apex Legends and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It was recently confirmed that the collaboration event will run from January 9 to January 30. More details about the event were also unveiled today.

During the limited-time collaboration event, the unranked mode of Apex Legends will be replaced by the "FINAL FANTASY™ VII Takeover" mode. The game will incorporate various Final Fantasy VII-related elements, including Cactuar Ticks, colored Materias, themed cosmetics, and the Buster Sword R2R5. According to the official introduction, this destructive sword allows wielders to "get access to light and heavy attacks, blocking to reduce damage taken and dash to close the gap, and fill your meter to use the quintessential Limit Break".

As for the collaborative skins, themed combinations such as Wraith x Tifa, Horizon x Aerith, Crypto x Cloud, Newcastle x Barrett, Valkyrie x Yuffie, and Wattson x Moogle are set to be introduced.
