The emulator leak of Nintendo's upcoming flagship game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, has garnered significant attention, causing players to indirectly suffer from spoilers as a result of the leak. Of course, Nintendo, which is proactive in tackling piracies, will not sit idly by and is taking action, despite the situation already being slightly out of control.
Since the leak, Nintendo has issued DMCA copyright warnings, requesting multiple leaked gameplay videos of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to be taken down. Github was the recent target of the company, with the platform being demanded to remove open-source emulator projects. According to programmer Simon Aarons, Nintendo has issued multiple DMCA takedown requests to Github, including one for a tool called Lockpick.
The tool serves to extract legitimate keys from one's own Switch, so that players could bypass the console's TPM system to play games on emulators. However, the removal of the tool may lead to more emulator players turning towards piracy in order to obtain keys.
