Dead Cells, a beloved rogue-lite Metroidvania game brought to us by developers Motion Twin and Evil Empire, has reached an impressive milestone of over 10 million copies sold since its initial early access release on May 10, 2017. The developers also revealed plans for further updates to be released before 2025, with Evil Empire taking charge of development.
During the interview with GamesIndustry, Steve Filby, the managing director of Evil Empire, revealed that prior to working on the DLC content for Dead Cells, he had previously held a marketing position at Motion Twin. Afterward, he went on to establish his own independent company, Indie Catapult.
When he received the news that Motion Twin decided to conclude the development of Dead Cells, he founded Evil Empire to create Rise of the Giant, a free DLC for the game, and subsequently took on the responsibility for developing all the game's future DLC.
