Lemon Sky Studios (Lemon Sky), commemorated the release of Redfall to mark the amazing 4-year creative partnership with Arkane Austin. This would be the first time the 2 studios have worked together and the results are some of the phenomenal art presented in Redfall which made its debut to gamers around the world today. The Lemon Sky brand is popularly known for their work in AAA titles such as recent success, Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 1, as well as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart by Insomniac Games.
The project that started before the pandemic hit, came with its own set of challenges both from an artistic point of view as well as a logistics point of view. Lemon Sky was tasked with creating a number of character interactive props, assets and environment art for the game. Seeing as this would be the first time the 2 studios are working together, a strong pipeline and clear line of communication needed to be established in order to see through the project that had been impeded by the pandemic.
“As this would be the first time we were working with Arkane Austin, we were very keen on ensuring that the transition into remote working mode was carried out as smoothly as possible. Arkane Austin were great partners, supporting us in every way possible throughout the process,” said Eng Tzy Ling, Studio Manager at Lemon Sky North.
The art style that Arkane Austin wanted for their assets was also a unique one that excited the team.
“Balancing the realistic feel with stylised aesthetics was an intriguing venture for us. It opened up a learning opportunity for us especially for our artists working on texturing to achieve the iconic Redfall look. We were definitely inspired by Arkane’s vision and we are extremely proud of the final outcome. We look forward to working with them again in the future,” said Ken Foong, Chief Creative Officer & Chief Operations Officer at Lemon Sky Studios

Redfall released on 2 May, 2023 on PC and the XBox Series.
