Created by Japanese manga artist duo Peach-Pit, the shoujo manga series Shugo Chara! (My Guardian Characters), serialized in Kodansha's monthly magazine "Nakayoshi" in 2006 and was subsequently adapted into an anime series in 2007, is now having a sequel in the works. The official announcement today confirms that a new chapter of the manga is set to begin serialization in summer 2024, promising to depict "new stories for Amu and others!" Further details are expected to be revealed in the near future.
The story of Shugo Chara! revolves around Amu Hinamori, a student at Seiyo Elementary School. In the eyes of others, she's seen as a cool girl, often described as "cool and spicy." However, in reality, Amu is just an ordinary girl who struggles with expressing herself and is rather introverted. Trapped by her outward image, she is unable to show her true self. Yet, when Amu longs for the bravery to become her ideal self, three vibrant eggs materialize. As they hatch, they unveil Amu's Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su.
