根据官方介绍所述，本作《Outlast Trials》设定在冷战时期的鼎盛时期，玩家将会扮演被 Murkoff Corporation 绑架的测试对象，关押在一个秘密的 Murkoff 设施，并且面临一系列的精神和身心折磨，玩家可以单人或与好友合作试图存活下去以及保持理智不被摧毁。
