Blumhouse Productions, the production company behind The Purge and MΞGAN, announced that the company will venture into the video game business.
Blumhouse Games will be established to extend their expertise in horror stories to video games.
According to Bloomberg, Blumhouse Games plans to invest $10 million in the production of an immersive horror game for consoles and PC. At the same time, they will also provide assistance to other small studios in terms of financing, creativity, distribution, and so on. Not only that, Blumhouse has also hired ex-Playstation executive Don Sechler as CFO, and Zach Wood, who has worked on more than 30 games, to oversee the creative side of its video games business.
Blumhouse Games claim that they will treat games production just like the production of movies, and make games within the budget by setting a goal to invest in 15 games in the next 3-4 years, each spending around $25 million.
Given that Blumhouse has achieved good results through horror movies in the past, it is worth looking forward to their ability to deliver in the form of games.
