The Xbox 360 console has been around for 18 years since its launch. Despite the subsequent release of Xbox Series consoles, Microsoft continues to provide services for the Xbox 360, including its game store. However, Microsoft has recently announced that starting from July 29, 2024, they will cease support for purchases of games, DLC, or other content through the Xbox 360 store. It's important to note that games and DLC that have already been purchased will not be affected and will continue to function normally.
Furthermore, even after the store services are discontinued, players will still be able to engage in online multiplayer gameplay on purchased games and save their progress in the cloud. This is provided that the publishers/developers are willing to maintain servers for their titles on the Xbox 360. Regardless, Microsoft's 18-year commitment to supporting the Xbox 360 is commendable, and making such a business decision is indeed reasonable. With the closure still some time away, it might be a good idea for everyone to explore what classic games they might want to acquire before the shutdown.
