During last year's Summer Game Fest, Naughty Dog unveiled concept art for a new multiplayer game in The Last of Us series and announced plans to reveal more details this year. However, the official announcement was made recently stating that the multiplayer project is still in development and requires additional time. In the meantime, the team is also working on creating a "brand new single-player experience".

According to the developer's introduction last year, the new multiplayer game in the works is expected to boast a similar scale to the previous single-player games, if not even larger in some aspects. It will bring a very unique storytelling approach and introduce new characters and diverse settings, providing a fresh backdrop for the game's narrative.
