Hideki Kamiya, the producer of multiple renowned games such as Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, The Wonderful 101, and more, has officially left PlatinumGames. On October 12, he uploaded his first video on his personal YouTube channel titled "Let's ask Kamiya! - Why'd he quit? What are his plans?" in which he discussed his departure from PlatinumGames and his future plans.
In the video itself, Hideki Kamiya seemed a bit reluctant to discuss the reasons for his departure (if you know, you know). However, he subsequently explained that he left the company because he wanted to adhere to his principles as a game producer and follow the path he believes is right for his future. As a result, he has no retirement plans at the moment.
As for where he's headed next, he revealed that due to certain reasons (likely non-compete clauses), he won't be able to work in the related industry for the next year. Consequently, it will be some time before he can bring good news to everyone. When asked about his current plans, he mentioned that he simply wants to go home and cook curry dishes.
