At the recent PlayStation Showcase 2023, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 titled Metal Gear Solid Δ: The Snake Eater was finally unveiled, sparking discussion among players regarding whether it was developed in-house by Konami or in collaboration with their former partner, Hideo Kojima. The answer to this question has now been revealed.
According to an interview with the behind-the-scenes team of Metal Gear Solid Δ: The Snake Eater by IGN, it has been confirmed that neither Hideo Kojima, Yoji Shinkawa, nor Kojima Productions were involved in this project. Instead, it is being developed in collaboration with Virtuos Games, known for their work on Dark Souls: Remastered.
On why the game was selected for a remake project, a Konami spokesperson said: "We chose Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater because it depicts the birth of Big Boss (Naked Snake), which is the starting point of the Metal Gear series." "Another reason is that many fans have been requesting a remake of this game for a long time."
