Nintendo and Illumination Studio have teamed up to create The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Although the movie will not be released in Malaysia until April 20, it has already been released overseas, achieving a global box office of 377 million U.S. dollars in just five days.
This not only exceeded this year's box office champion Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania but also broke the record of Frozen 2, which earned 358 million U.S. dollars in its first five days. The Super Mario Bros. Movie has now achieved the highest box office revenue among animated films over the opening weekend.
The global box office mentioned above is from more than 70 countries including North America, Mexico, the United States, Germany, and China. However, it is worth noting that the above does not include Japan, the headquarters of Nintendo, where the movie is expected to be released on April 28. If the box office performance continues to be strong, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has the potential to rank among the top 20 highest-grossing movies worldwide. Make sure not to miss it when the movie is released in your country!
