Created by Japanese manga artist Yana Toboso and serialized in Monthly GFantasy, the manga series Black Butler announced the production of a new anime series a few months ago. At the "Aniplex Online Fest 2023" event held yesterday, the official announcement revealed that the new installment is titled Black Butler: Public School Arc and is set to debut in 2024. A new trailer and key visual were also released at the same time, marking a new chapter for the Black Butler anime series after a decade.
According to Aniplex's description of the anime,
Butler Sebastian Michaelis works with his 13-year-old master, the earl Ciel Phantomhive, to do the dirty work of "the Queen's guard dog" in nineteenth century England's gritty underworld.
One day, Ciel receives a letter from Queen Victoria telling him that several students at Weston College, one of England's top public schools, have seemingly disappeared... including a relative of hers named Derrick. And so, Sebastian and Ciel infiltrate Weston College to get to the bottom of the matter. What truly happened to these students?
