In 2020, Riot Games revealed multiple spin-off games of the League of Legends franchise, including an MMORPG based on the world of League of Legends. This project is led by former Lead Systems Designer of World of Warcraft, Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street.
However, after a few years, Greg Street announced on his personal Twitter that he had resigned from his position at Riot Games. In December of last year, he revealed that his brother had passed away and his father was not expected to live for much longer, so he decided to take some time off. He then ultimately decided to resign in order to spend more time with his family. At the same time, he felt the need to think more about his career and believed that after working at Riot for 9 years, it is time for something new.
In addition, he once said that creating an MMORPG for League of Legends that can appeal to all players would be a long journey, and his job as one of the members was to facilitate a great team. While he remained humble, he said that would still "brag about the team all day". Finally, Greg mentioned the key point that the development of this MMORPG game is "in good hands", and the timing is ideal to hand over the lead for the next phase. As for himself, he plans to continue working in the field of game development in the future, and he will also join us in playing the MMORPG when it launches.
