Amazon Games has announced an agreement with Middle-earth Enterprises, a subsidiary of Embracer Group, on the development of an open-world MMORPG game based on the Lord of the Rings series. The game will be developed by Amazon Games Orange County, the team behind New World, and is planned for release on both console and PC platforms.

This new Lord of the Rings game will be set in Middle Earth and will feature the captivating stories of The Hobbits and the events from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's worth mentioning that Amazon Games has been actively expanding its presence in the MMORPG genre in recent years, from their first-party title New World to their publishing of Lost Ark, the company have achieved a certain level of success. Additionally, the company will also publish highly anticipated titles such as NCSOFT's Throne and Liberty and Bandai Namco's Blue Protocol, among other games.
