American McGee, the producer who participated in the production of American McGee's Alice and Alice: Madness Returns, had written the story outline for a new sequel in the series called Alice: Asylum several years ago. The story continued the dark style of the previous two games and presented the story of Alice's adventures in Wonderland. Through the blueprint for a sequel, he hoped to inspire EA, the copyright holder, to reboot the Alice game series.
Recently, he revealed that he had approached EA, but the company was not interested in funding a sequel for the series, nor did they have any plans to provide IP authorization to McGee, leaving the project directionless moving forward.
The series has officially come to a close as the producer has decided to give up. Even if someone were to convince EA, he asserts that has no plans to participate in any future development work.
