Fans have been saddened by the postponement of various anime, including Isekai Ojisan which just announced that its final episode will finally air on March 8. Imagine how disappointing it is to have your weekly entertainment delayed indefinitely.

What’s worse is that there are still plenty of anime held up due to the pandemic.

Here’s the list of postponed winter 2023 anime:

• NieR: Automata Ver1.1a (Delayed after episode 3, set to return on February 18)

Set in the distant future, 5012 when mankind was led to the brink of extinction due to the sudden invasion of Aliens and their creations: Machine Lifeforms. Hoping to recapture Earth, survivors of mankind who took refuge on the Moon has organized a counterattack using Android soldiers. Nevertheless, the war has reached a stalemate due to the infinite multiplication of Machine Lifeforms.  As the ultimate weapon of mankind, YoRHa has been deployed to Earth. Members of the unit includes 2B, who has joined 9S that had been stationed in Earth. However, during their mission, they have encountered multiple mysterious phenomena … The anime tells the story of these lifeless Androids and their endless fight for the survival of humanity.

• UniteUp! (Delayed after episode 3, returned on February 11)

Akira Kiyose, who is active on a video streaming website under the singer name of KIKUNOYU, was recruited by the talent agency sMiLea, which was founded by the retired legendary idol AneLa. On their journey towards stardom, Akira formed an idol group with Banri Naoe and Chihiro Isuzugawa who were also recruited by the agency.

• Ayakashi Triangle (Delayed after episode 4, return date unknown)

In modern Japan where evil spirits called ayakashi exist, there are few individuals possess large amount of at least one of two energies that humans are composed of: haku (life energy) and kon (spiritual energy). The Ayakashi Medium is a rare-type of human who possesses large amount of haku, which is also the energy that makes up the entirety of ayakashi. It is for this reason that the Ayakashi Medium is worshiped by most ayakashi as a deity-like figure. Suzu Kanade is an Ayakashi Medium who attracts a lot of ayakashi to her. Fortunately, her childhood friend Matsuri Kazamaki is a descendant of exorcist ninjas who protect people from ayakashi. Devoted to protecting Suzu, while trying to seal away the King of Ayakashi “Shirogane”, Matsuri was cursed and it turned him into a girl. As Suzu helps Matsuri to adapt to life as a female, Shirogane plots to recover his power and devour Suzu.

• Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible (Delayed after episode 6, restart broadcast in April)

Junta Shiraishi is a high school student who is technically invisible to his peers, as people often fail to notice his presence. However, the only person who would always notice Shiraishi’s presence is Nagisa Kubo, his female classmate who is determined to make him stand out through peculiar situations all orchestrated by her.

• The Misfit of Demon King Academy II (Delayed after episode 6, return date unknown)

Anos Voldigoad hopes to put his reputation as the Demon King of Tyranny to rest and return to being a misfit at the Demon King Academy as peace returns to the demon realm. However, there are still demons, kings, and deities plotting the demise of Anos in the shadows. As the rumours about the Child of God spread, Anos journeys deep into the land of spirits, in order to eliminate the potential threat that could rival his power. The land of spirits may only be entered after going through a series of daunting trials, but due to his unmatchable strength, Anos and his allies barely have to break a sweat.

• BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense. Season 2 (Delayed after episode 6, episode 7 to air on March 8, episode 11 and 12 to be further delayed)
