The concept visual and voice cast information for the anime adaptation of the late Japanese manga artist Cocoa Fujiwara's final work, The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies, has been revealed. The anime is scheduled to begin airing in July 2024.
The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies is a four-panel manga series that began serialization in 2013. Unfortunately, the original creator, Cocoa Fujiwara, passed away in March 2015, marking it as her last work. Initial plans for an animated adaptation were made in 2015, but were discontinued due to the author's passing. In 2023, a decision was made once again to create an anime adaptation in commemoration of the manga's 10th anniversary.
According to MyAnimeList's description of the manga series,
The manga tells the story of Mira, who leads an evil organization trying to take over and destroy everything. Earth is under attack, but a magical girl named Byakuya Mimori stands up to Mira's group. As they face off, something unexpected happens—Mira falls in love with Mimori.
