What is INDIKA, you ask? The latest offering from 11 bit studios’ publishing division, INDIKA is set in a surreal version of early 20th-century Russia centering around a simple nun’s bizarre and spiritual journey. Developed by Odd Meter, players can now embark on this spiritual journey for themselves and delve into the deceptive nature of INDIKA’s story and gameplay.
As the launch trailer succinctly details it, INDIKA is the tale of a strong woman on a vital mission, uncovering her life's true purpose. But beneath this surface, the easily observable outer layer, lies the soul, its inner depths waiting to be explored.
Blending gameplay elements from adventure TPP games—including perplexing environmental puzzles, and even a glimpse of platforming—INDIKA offers much more than meets the eye. Its aesthetics, design, and gameplay are influenced heavily by this genre mix, however, its true essence lies in delivering cinematic storytelling reminiscent of the arthouse works of Yorgos Lanthimos, Ari Aster, and Darren Aronofsky. INDIKA focuses on its core purpose by touching on philosophical beliefs and aiming to provoke reflection on delicate themes.
INDIKA launched today for PC, and console versions will arrive later this month (PS5, XSX|S). A portion of the revenue generated from INDIKA will be donated to aid children affected by the war in Ukraine.
