At the recent indie game event BitSummit, Hiroyuki Kotani, the development director of PATAPON, announced the spiritual successor of the series, RATATAN. It wasn't long before we got to see the first gameplay trailer, which was released during the past weekend. The project is planned to launch its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter on August 1, 2023, and is expected to be available on PC and other platforms, supporting multiplayer gameplay.
RATATAN is led by Hiroyuki Kotani, with Nelnal as the illustrator, and Kenmei Adachi (also worked on PATAPON) as the composer. The game's content is expected to be richer compared to PATAPON, with the classic rhythm action gameplay being continued while incorporating various new elements, including more randomness and fresh mechanics, as well as introducing new characters.
