In the evening of October 7, we were honoured to attend the second-anniversary awards dinner hosted by MantaYAY. The occasion united over 300 TikTok creators, comprising livestreamers, content creators, e-commerce specialists, and others, who came together to socialize and exchange ideas.
During the event, the MantaYAY team officially introduced two new directors, both with significant TikTok followings: Bang Joel (Joel Lim Min Sheu), who has nearly two million followers, and the former leader of eGG Network, Yu Bin NG. These fresh additions to the board will play a key role in nurturing additional creators and guiding them towards profitability through brand partnerships and online live streaming.
At the event, Bang Joel also shared his swift ascent to TikTok stardom, emphasizing his journey from starting with nothing to achieving success and motivating all creators to remain bold and persistent when opportunities present themselves.
Besides the introduction of new directors, MantaYAY has also launched Malaysia's first live interactive game on TikTok known as Clan War, which is tailor-made for interactions between content creators and their fanbase. Upon entering the live game, viewers are split into two teams, represented by red and blue. To participate, viewers can simply leave a comment with either "1" or "2" to choose their team and join the gameplay. Every time a live gift is sent, it instantaneously increases the number of soldiers attacking the opposing team until one side emerges victorious. The primary objective of Clan War is to unlock greater monetization opportunities for game creators, recognizing that modern audiences not only relish player-versus-player competition but are also increasingly inclined towards interactive engagement with livestream hosts.
At the dinner, the renowned TikTok gaming livestreamer Kingshahx, in collaboration with the MantaYAY team, kicked off the first live session of Clan War. This event drew the participation of numerous on-site creators and their online fans, and all the proceeds from this live stream's gifts will be donated to the Selangor Orphanage Education Organization (Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor). This initiative is in line with the previous example of Only Up! where the streamers integrated their keyboard controls with the gifts, allowing viewers to disrupt the streamer's gameplay by sending gifts. Clan War is just MantaYAY's first venture into interactive live games, and they plan to release more engaging live games in the future.
Finally, MantaYAY has revealed their plans to produce a series in a TikTok's vertical format, titled Jewel, alongside their gaming ventures. This series is set to span 100 episodes and has already initiated the casting process. Notably, they are focusing on casting TikTok creators, with the intention of offering these creators enhanced visibility within this unique content format.
